When loading ink into a cartridge, sometimes the ink may leak even though it seems to be properly filled. This guide is for users of the HP printer model VCVRA-0706.
1. Overfilling the Ink Cartridge
Overfilling, especially with color cartridges, can lead to ink leakage. If the volume of monochrome ink is less than one-third of the black cartridge's volume, excessive filling combined with frequent refilling may cause leaks.
Solution:
- Use a small electronic scale to accurately measure the amount of ink being added.
- Avoid placing leaking cartridges into the printer. Instead, place the cartridge head down in a tray to catch any excess ink. Once the ink stops leaking, clean the cartridge chip and then install the cartridge into the printer.
- If ink seeps from the vent hole during filling, use a syringe to draw back the excess ink. Reducing the amount of ink inside the cartridge can help prevent leaks.
2. Saturated Sponge
Most inkjet printers have a sponge at the bottom to recover waste ink. When the sponge becomes saturated, ink may overflow.
Solution:
- Remove the sponge and wash it, then reinstall it once it's clean.
- Alternatively, replace the old sponge with a new one.
3. Cartridge Quality Issues
Original cartridges rarely have leakage issues, but third-party cartridges can vary in quality. Leakage may be due to the cartridge itself or the fill hole.
Solution:
- Replace the leaking cartridge with a high-quality one.
