We'll introduce two methods for cleaning the printhead of your HP printer:
Method 1: Using the Driver Tool to Clean the Printer Nozzle.
If the printhead clogging is minor and your printer can still print, but the quality is lower than usual (e.g., some text is unclear or photos have inaccurate colors), you can use the printer driver's built-in cleaning tool.
1. Locate the HP printer driver icon in your Start menu or Control Panel.
2. Right-click on the icon and select "Printing Preferences."
3. In the Printing Preferences window, choose the "Maintenance" tab.
4. You'll find several options, including one to clean the printhead. Select this option and follow the on-screen instructions.
Method 2: Manually Cleaning the Printer Printhead
If your printouts have broken lines, white streaks, or incorrect colors, and the ink cartridges still have ink, you may need to manually clean the printhead.
1. Carefully remove the ink cartridges from the printer.
2. Locate the printhead at the bottom of the cartridge. It resembles an integrated circuit.
3. Prepare a cup of warm water (50°C to 60°C).
4. Dip the bottom of the cartridge with the printhead into the water. Ensure only the nozzle part is submerged.
5. Soak the printhead for 10 to 30 minutes.
6. After soaking, remove the cartridge and gently shake it to remove excess water. Some ink may come out of the nozzle.
7. Use a tissue to absorb any ink residue on the printhead.
8. Reinstall the cleaned cartridge back into the printer.
9. Print a test page to assess the cleaning results.
