What Should I Do if the Printer Cartridge Chip is Damaged?

Failure Symptoms:

- The ink indicator light on the printer remains on, and restarting the printer does not resolve the issue.
- The decoder fails to read the cartridge chip.
- The printer does not perform cleaning cycles when the cleaning button is pressed.
- The ink indicator turns red when a print job is canceled.
- The ink indicator turns red upon restarting the computer.

Solutions:

1. For EPSON models: Removing and reinserting the cartridge may disrupt ongoing print jobs, necessitating multiple cleaning and testing cycles.

2. If your cartridge with a chip exhibits any of the above symptoms, please check the following possibilities:
- The cartridge may not be properly installed.
- The chip may not be correctly positioned on the cartridge.
- The stylus on the cartridge chip may be deformed.
- The chip itself may be damaged.

The first two issues can often be resolved by adjusting the chip's position and ensuring the cartridge is securely installed in the printer. The third issue can be identified through visual inspection. This type of failure often occurs when the cartridge is forcibly removed without securing the chip. Repairing this may require disassembling the printer nozzle by someone with maintenance experience to either correct or replace the stylus.

For actual chip damage, using a decoder to reset the original cartridge chip's memory is common, but if issues persist, trying a different decoder or ultimately replacing the chip might be necessary. When using a continuous ink supply system equipped with a permanent chip, the risk of chip damage is significantly reduced as the system does not require cartridge removal for decoding.
