What is pigment ink?

Pigment ink is an aggregate composed of molecules. Its smallest unit is much larger than the molecular diameter of dye ink, ranging from 50-200 nanometers. It usually exists in the form of opaque liquid. Pigment ink is a kind of powder ink. Of course, this is just an image, not accurate enough. To be exact, it grinds solid pigments into very fine particles and dissolves them in a special aqueous solvent. It is a suspension solution or semi solution, which is the same as the pigment used for printing and dyeing clothes. Contrary to the principle that dye ink infiltrates into the medium to form color, it generates color by attaching color materials to the surface of the medium (such as copy paper or printing paper). Therefore, under the influence of external corrosion, only the molecular structure of the outermost layer will be destroyed first, and the internal structure will not be easily damaged. After the outer layer molecules are destroyed, fading and other phenomena will occur. In terms of printing color, the polymer in the outer layer of pigment ink will make it unable to display the color and brightness of the color well. Even printing on glossy paper and other paper with flat surface cannot print glossy images, which is why things printed with pigment ink generally have no luster.

Advantages: waterproof and light resistant.

Disadvantages: The particles are large, which is easy to cause plugs, and the printed image is not bright.
